Public Public Dead Sea Spot

If you have a car and you do not want to go to a resort, you can visit this public Dead Sea spot:

Open the location map

Bring a towel and clean water to wash yourself after floating.
There are no proper facilities to clean yourself at this spot.
Sometimes people offer water service for around 3–5 JOD.
Bring food with you if you are going to a public beach, because most restaurants are far from the Dead Sea shore.
Mud Natural Mud Experience

Dead Sea mud is rich in minerals and used for skin treatments.

Apply mud on your body.
Leave it for around 10 minutes.
Wash it off in the sea or shower.
Car Transportation

Getting to the Dead Sea by public transport

Take an Uber from your location in Amman to Muhajireen Bus Station.

Open Muhajireen Bus Station location

The bus toward Sweimeh costs around 1–2 JOD. Once you are dropped in the Sweimeh area, hitchhiking can be used to reach another area along the Dead Sea. Make sure the place you choose is suitable and safe for swimming before entering the water. For the return journey, hitchhiking is also commonly used back toward Amman. If a driver is going toward Madaba instead, they can drop you in Madaba; from there, a bus to Amman costs around 1 JOD. This is local practical advice, not a guaranteed transportation service.

From Amman

The Dead Sea is around 1 hour from Amman by car.

Uber and Careem are available, but returning cars can sometimes be limited late at night.
