Wadi Rum is best reached from Aqaba or Amman by private transfer or bus. Plan ahead for desert transfers and always confirm pickup times.

Move Transport Options

From Aqaba

A taxi to Wadi Rum Village usually costs around 20–25 JOD for the whole car and should not normally be more than that. If another traveler shares the taxi with you, split the total cost equally.

From Amman

The main direct option is a private taxi, which is expensive — usually around 90–120 JOD. For this route, renting a car is usually a better-value option.

From Petra to Wadi Rum

There is a public bus in the early morning, usually around 6:00–7:00 AM. Ask your hotel or hostel the day before for the current departure time. They can usually contact the driver and arrange for the bus to pick you up from your hotel or hostel.

At the visitor center

Most tours include round-trip pickup from the Wadi Rum entrance or village, but always confirm this with your camp before arriving.

In the protected Wadi Rum area, mobile signal and internet coverage can be very limited or unavailable. Download maps and important information before entering the desert.

Also be careful not to confuse the protected Wadi Rum area with Al Disah, as many accommodation listings use “Wadi Rum” even though they are outside the protected area.

JOD Typical Camp Package Prices

Prices can change by season and camp quality, but these are normal ranges to help you compare offers before booking.

If you arrive in Wadi Rum after 3 PM, camps will usually arrange the jeep tour for the next day. Check this with your camp before booking so your arrival time matches the tour plan.

Half-day jeep tour package

Usually includes a 3-hour jeep tour, transfer from Wadi Rum Village to the camp and back, dinner, breakfast, and one night at the camp. Normal range: 45–55 JOD.

Full-day jeep tour package

Usually includes a 6-hour jeep tour, transfer from Wadi Rum Village to the camp and back, breakfast, lunch, dinner, and one night at the camp. Normal range: 60–65 JOD.

Camel ride

Usually an extra 10 JOD.

Train ride transfer

If arranged by the camp, it is usually around 15 JOD for both ways.
